Mission: Episode 1: The Gamma Quadrant Awaits...
Location: Transporter Room
Timeline: MD01: Stardate 65750.69 (0950 Hours)

The shocking news had reached Azulas quite quickly that Commander Cohen had been reassigned and she was somewhat shocked at the swiftness of the order. Even for Starfleet, with less than 24 hours gone, this was some sort of record for a reassignment. She had received word that her newest member of the team would be beaming aboard shortly and she had opted to meet the newcomer in transporter room one. She hoped that she would at least have some time to get used to this one before they were reassigned by Admiral Archer.

Entering the transporter room, the Trill ran a quick hand over her uniform and smoothed out a few ruffles as she waited for the transporter to engage.

Audrid had obtained her new orders just a few hours ago, she had just returned from her assignment and as such could appreciate the ability to return to the civilized world again. Of course when she got her pick of assignments, the mention that Nilani was once again in command of a Gamma ship was a compelling case. As she materialized and saw Nilani she would immediately turn to the Trill. "Miss me?"

Azulas was flabbergasted, her mouth wide open in astonishment as she saw the figure standing on the transporter pad before her. Could it really be her best friend, back from her assignment on New Bajor? Eventually, with a warm smile and a slight chuckle in her voice, the Captain nodded. "Like you wouldn't believe," she remarked.

"Miss you too, but scaring off an XO on your first day eh? That has to be a record," Audrid replied before dropping her bags and walking to Nilani.

"In my defense, it was nothing to do with me this time," Nilani smiled as she shared a warm embrace with her friend from a previous time. Suddenly, losing her old XO didn't seem like such a bad thing.

"Yeah, this one was pretty much on me. Couldn't let you be in the same quadrant without me bugging you" Audrid replied, likewise glad to serve with a true friend again.

“Well,” Nilani motioned for her best friend to follow out of the transporter room and walk with her. As they made their way down the corridor, the two Trill shared several glances until the Captain finally spoke. “I’m so glad it’s you. This place is a mess! So much to get right and we’re supposed to be out of here already,” she revealed.

Audrid nodded "Yeah, it does feel like Archer is punishing you for something. This feels like a downgrade" She said, commenting on the state of the vessel. "But I'm sure we'll get it all in order.”

“We don’t have a choice. Once we leave, we aren't coming back,” the Captain revealed with a huge grin as she stopped and took hold of her friends hands. “I’m so excited! I haven’t told the crew yet but we’re going back to the beginning. Back to what Starfleet is all about. We’re going to fly off into the depths of the Quadrant and go where no Starfleet vessel has gone before,” she grinned, feeling all giggly. It was the first time in months she had felt happy enough to express herself to someone.

"So no more mutinies and new letters for our registry?"Audrid said jokingly, holding Nilani's hand tightly. "I guess exploration can be fun too.”

Nilani and Audrid continued their stroll from the transporter room, discussing various issues on the ship before Nilani left her friend to settle in and to return to the bridge and get the ship underway.

Suddenly, things didn’t look so bleak.
